Secretary of the Party Central Committee, President of the Academy receives and works with the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam

    In the afternoon of April 12th, Hanoi, Prof, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics received and worked with His Excellency Mr. Craig Chittick, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam.

    Speaking at the meeting, Prof, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang highly valued the development of stratecgic partnership between Vietnam and Australia in general, the Academy and the Australian Embassy, other Australian partners in particular.

    In a short time, the cooperation programs  between the Academy and the Australian Embassy have been implemented effectively, such as connecting and supporting the Academy to find prestigious Australian partners in deploying the project “Integrating lessons on human rights into curricula of the national educational system in the 2017-2025 period”, successfully organizing the training and knowledge sharing program for students of political theory senior class on strategic public-sector leadership…  Ambassador Craig Chittick has significant contributed to the success, Prof, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang stressed.

    In order to replicate the achievements, the Academy President expressed his desire that the Australian Embassy would contrinue supporting, expanding forms of cooperation in training and knowledge sharing to more classes of the Academy from central to local areas. He also noted that it is necessary to build a co-operative framework between the Academy and the Australian Embassy in general or an Australian partner with similar functions, duties and missions.

    Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang offered that in the coming time, the two sides should focus on developing English modules for training senior management leaders; building key programs for training and fostering strategic cadres of the Party and the State of Vietnam in association with reality and development requirements in the new context; conducting common studies between Vietnam and Australia to building, developing the country and deepening bilateral relations; designing programs for students sharing, exchanging and researching the development of countries... In the long term, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang hoped that the two sides would coordinate to build a global knowledge sharing center, which is managed by the Academy; and organize dialogue forums on policy between different levels and localities.

    At the meeting, the Ambassador Craig Chittick expressed his gratitude and joy to the Academy President’s positive evaluations and comments on the relationship and effectiveness in the cooperative programs between the two sides. He also agreed with Prof.Dr Nguyen Xuan Thang about his proposal and pledged that the Australian Embassy would support the Academy continuously to deploy cooperation programs and joint researches, such as organizing training programs and sharing knowledge for students of political theory senior classes; expanding the course to more participants. In the framework of cooperation, the Ambassador also informed about inviting the former Australian Minister of Commerce and Foreign Affairs to the Academy to share and exchange knowledge for groups of students (expected June 2019). He also asked the two sides to consider and sign a MoU to make bilateral cooperation more effectively, practically and planning.

    Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics expressed his agreement with the Ambassador's suggestions and exchanges; and required the functional units of the Academy to coordinate and implement effectively.

    At the meeting, the two sides also spent a lot of time discussing common studies, as well as cooperation in strengthening the quality and effectiveness of training programs, improving research skills of the Academy officials…/.
