New academic and theoretical contributions:

Building upon and inheriting the findings of previously published prominent studies, the dissertation systematizes the theoretical foundation of the topic and introduces a scholarly conceptualization: The leadership of the provincial and municipal Party Committees in the Mekong Delta region in protecting the ideological foundation of the Party refers to the entirety of activities conducted by these Committees to thoroughly grasp the leadership directives of higher-level authorities, set objectives and orientations, organize forces, and implement tasks aimed at protecting Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, and the viewpoints and guidelines of the Party; while actively combating wrongful and hostile narratives - thus contributing to the maintenance of political stability and sustainable development in the region. Furthermore, the dissertation identifies the core contents and leadership modalities of the Party Committees in relation to protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

Practical findings derived from research and surveys:

Based on the developed theoretical framework, the dissertation evaluates the current state of leadership practices by the Party Committees in the Mekong Delta, highlighting achievements, limitations, and shortcomings.

From this, five key lessons of experience are drawn concerning leadership in ideological protecting. The dissertation proposes feasible and practical solutions, such as: Enhancing awareness and responsibility among Party organizations and the political system regarding the task of ideological protection; Improving the quality and capacity of Party Committee members and advisory bodies; Strengthening leadership in organizing and coordinating specialized forces; Promoting the proactive and effective involvement of local governments, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations in protecting ideological foundations; Upholding the exemplary role of Party Committees and members; and intensifying inspection, review, and preliminary assessments of ideological protecting efforts. At the same time, the dissertation emphasizes the importance of fostering socio-economic development, preserving cultural values, ensuring national defense and security, and improving all aspects of people's livelihoods in the Mekong Delta region.
