Welcoming Ambassador Marc Knapper and his colleagues to the Academy, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang acknowledged and appreciated the positive and effective cooperation results achieved between the Academy and the United States partners in recent years, including the important connecting role of the United States Embassy in Vietnam.
At the reception, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang proposed that the United States Embassy in Vietnam continue to pay attention and create conditions for his upcoming research trip to the United States to be successfully organized. Sharing about the trip, he said that the Vietnam - United Statescomprehensive strategic partnership was established in the context of a complex and unpredictable world with many global initiatives being promoted, posing many opportunities and challenges for the two countries. Thus, with the plan to meet with United States partners from the government sector, research and academic institutions to large enterprises, strategic investors, and leading technology companies, the delegation hopes to access multi-faceted and multi-dimensional perspectives on bilateral cooperation between the two countries, on the current world and regional situation, especially since the two countries upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development. This will enable the delegation to seek solutions to specific issues in bilateral cooperation, realizing the core contents and pillars of the Vietnam - United States comprehensive strategic partnership framework; learning from United States development experiences in the fields of technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor manufacturing, climate change adaptation, greenhouse gas (CO2) emission reduction and carbon neutrality (Net Zero)...
Ambassador Marc Knapper affirmed that he and the United States Embassy in Vietnam are always ready to support and closely coordinate with the Academy and relevant parties so that Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang and the delegation can have an effective and successful working visit in the United States.

He emphasized that the visit takes place at a very important moment, not only when Vietnam is actively preparing to summarize 40 years of national renewal and the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, but also when the United States and Vietnam are ready to celebrate the first anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (September 2023 – September 2024) and 30 years of normalization of bilateral relations (1995 - 2025). He believed that the working visit of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang and the delegation in the United States would reap practical results, effectively contributing to the development of Vietnam in particular and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the United States in general.
According to Ambassador Marc Knapper, the United States is always interested in Vietnam's development goals and wishes to participate in that process, cooperate and support Vietnam to achieve its set goals, including clean energy and climate change, building a digital economy by 2030, becoming a high-income developed country by 2045 and achieving the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
At the working session, two sides also discussed cooperation activities between the Academy and the United States Embassy in Vietnam in the coming time, achievements and prospects for strengthening comprehensive strategic cooperation on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the normalization of Vietnam – United States relations and directions for promoting the Vietnam - United States comprehensive strategic partnership in the new context.
