New academic and theoretical contributions:
In terms of theory, the dissertation proposes two new concepts: state management of tourism activities and state management of tourism activities in the smart city development trend at the local level. At the same time, it clarifies the theoretical aspect of state management of tourism activities in the smart city development trend at the local level.
In terms of research methodology, the dissertation applies qualitative research methods, in-depth interviews using open-ended questionnaires and evaluation questionaires to determine component weights for the Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). Additionaly, the dissertation conducts a SWOT analysis as a foundation for developing selected strategies.
The combination of SWOT an QSPM is commonly used in specialized areas of business management, such as marketing and market analysis, but has not yet been applied to analyze state management of tourism activities. This approach aims to identify state management strategies based on state-led, market-led, or community-led models for tourism activities in the smart city development trend at the provincial level.
Practical contributions:
The dissertation presents new analyses based on statistical data from both secondary and primary sources, applying a theoretical framework to descibe the regular issues of state management of tourism activities in the smart city development trend.
The dissertation proposes new directions and a system of solutions to improve state management of tourism in Da Nang city by 2025, with a vision towards 2030, in line with the smart city development trend.
The combination of SWOT analysis and QSPM allows for the identification of a system of solutions based on the components of SWOT, which are calculated and prioritized according to the procedures of QSPM analysis. Therefore, the system of solutions in the dissertation solidifies the strategic directions for state management of tourism activities in the smart city development trend in Da Nang into specific tasks.
Having identified the state management of tourism activities in the smart city development trend in Da Nang according to one of three directions: (i) state-led; (ii) market – led; or (iii) community-led; the thesis concretizes a set of solutions according to the determined direction.
